The Project
The proposal set out to respond to the distinctive Chelmsford streetscape and to visually and physically connect the station with the adjacent newly refurbished area of Duke Street, and our City Park West project for Genesis Housing just across the road.
The complex and confined site at the gateway to the city centre required detailed analysis of circulation, access issues, levels and materials. Granite and high quality concrete paving were specified and bespoke step units commissioned. The use of elegantly curving disappearing steps, bespoke bench features and lighting have created a pleasant and accessible frontage to the newly remodelled station building.
