INGOLDISTHORPE CUSTOM BUILD.
Ingoldisthorpe, Norfolk
The approach to site planning has been informed by a broad analysis of the context and character of the surrounding landscape in order to identify valued elements and features - patterns of land use of materials, views, physical connectivity - and to establish opportunities for the development proposal to enhance these.
Key Design Principles
Connect village to recreation ground, allotments and PRoWs beyond by introducing new pedestrian footways
Expand pond to create strong visual focus to green, closer to historic extent; create shallow stepped profile and introduce marginal planting to increase habitat value.
Retain existing grassland
Introduce new scattered pine belt to maintain visual connection to adjacent parkland and wooded skyline when viewed from north, and partially screen new housing
There is an opportunity to increase biodiversity and habitat value on site through tree, understorey planting, and by introducing a more complex pond profile with native marginal and aquatic planting.
