The Project

AREA were the landscape architects for the design team lead by architects Haverstock for the restoration of this beautiful but neglected building in the market town of Brackley, Northamptonshire. The overall aim of the project was to renew the role of the building and square as the central focus for community life at the heart of the town. AREA were tasked with rethinking the Town Hall’s setting within the historic market square and its relationships with the wider townscape. We prepared concept designs for inclusion in a successful Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund bid, and then detailed information for a planning application and construction. This project has involved detailed consultation and coordination with heritage consultants and specialist conservation architects, bespoke detailing and sourcing of materials to harmonise with the existing 18th century fabric of the building.
